A while back, I bought a laptop so I can work on stuff on the go. After some time passed, the laptop decided one day that it would stop turning on. I then took it to a repair shop, where it sat for weeks waiting for replacement parts to be found. I got it back, and the data on it was just fine, but this visit from the ninja grim reaper of laptops has made me come to a decision for a nagging quandary regarding the future of Chicanery. As a result, all future releases of Chicanery will be much shorter, about two scenes long tops.
The reason for this (besides the sisyphusesque grief resulting from losing a large project due to hardware failure) is that the longer the movie is, the more time I spend polishing and testing it. With shorter episodes, I can get these done a lot faster. This shouldn't really be much of a problem as far as Chicanery is concerned, as even though the episodes are shorter, they are more substantial than when they were jpegs.
Screw probation, we've ransacked PsychoWill onto the membership roster and we're not giving him back.

Here's one that I've been wanting to do for quite some time. In fact, when starting the project, I remembered that I had run through the game before for this purpose, and I had found screenshots taken way back in April '03. Why didn't I do this back then? Perhaps final exams came around, and I sorta forgot about it. I suppose that I forgot about it entirely by the time FFXI came around... *shudder* ...now that's a story for another time. In any case, I ran through it again. Why? 1) Not enough screenshots. 2) People would wonder aloud why I had named the girl "Trurl". 3) Much of the specifics of the subject matter were forgotten. And so, I bring you the result: another long-winded rant that could have been way shorter. Enjoy.

Chicanery #138 has been released. It's like all the other Chicaneries, except that this one is 14 minutes long. Now that I think about it, it isn't like any of the other Chicaneries at all. Go grab some razor blade trail mix or something and watch it by selecting Chicanery under "Comics", and then clicking 138.

You're probably wondering what that smell is. Well, it's coming from the highly toxic adhesive compounds that compose the new site design. While nothing to stare at, it does open the site up a little. Gone now are those stuffy margins. More importantly, the menu has been changed. No more of that cumbersome home menu we've had for about 2 years. Now there's a menu that hides from you, and yet you can never escape from it, no matter how hard you try.
As for me, I'm going to stick around. Add some more Chicanery here, some Hall of Cheese there... stuff like that.
